Creating your own path as a teacher (EP.75)
Monday May 11, 2020
Monday May 11, 2020
In this interview with teacher Kristen Wilson, she shares her background in teaching, what inspired her to focus her teaching on a specific niche area and we discuss ways to create your own path as a yoga teacher. I know Kristen’s story will not only be interesting to you but if you’re also feeling the pull to teach to a specific group of people, this episode will really hit home for you. There are two links you’ll want to review; first, we discuss my free training on cues and evaluating cues. You can watch the video training here:

You can also read about the evaluation process in my new e book, if you prefer that format over videos:

Kristen also has an e-book out where she shares about her journey as well. You may recall she mentioned this at the end of the episode:

How muscles work (EP.72)
Wednesday Apr 22, 2020
Wednesday Apr 22, 2020
Today I’m going to share a quick primer on how muscles work. This can be a point of confusion for teachers so it’s helpful to go through it. It’s also something that gets referred to a lot in teaching with words like “strengthen” or “lengthen” or phrases like “contract your (fill in the blank)” so it’s really important that you understand some of the essentials around the mechanics of how muscles work. I want you to be confident in what you’re sharing in class and one of the best ways to build your confidence is to really know the mechanics and detail behind what you’re saying.
In this episode, I refer to my free training on cues. You can get that here:

Want a better answer? Ask a better question. (EP.70)
Tuesday Apr 07, 2020
Tuesday Apr 07, 2020
In today’s episode, I cover a bit of a neuroscience technique of reframing a question so that it’s more focused on what’s possible over what’s not. I apply this framework to not only questions you might have now, given what’s happening in our world due to the Coronavirus but also how to apply this framework to questions you might have about your teaching.

Here’s an opportunity to learn some anatomy and do some personal development work all in one podcast. Here I walk you through a quick anatomy lesson, sharing certain muscles, their placement and action snd how they are used in certain poses, all in an effort to help you retain the information and learn how to apply it to teaching and cues. Next, I share five thought-provoking questions, designed to help you use this downtime from the COVID outbreak to better use than just watching TV. Writing down these questions and using them for self-reflection is a great exercise in personal development and one that will help you emerge from this time of restriction stronger and with a plan for your future.
